Awakening creativity

There is no limit to God’s creativity. We need only look at nature to be reminded of this. Take a little time to do something creative this month.

For the month of February, I’ll be sharing some of the poetry I have been working on.

The poem I want to share today is from my reflections on psalms 139:2 which says ‘You discern my thoughts from a far.’

Thoughts

Open and shut, open and shut
The doors of my mind swing in rhythm.
Letting in every stray and home-grown idea.
In and Out, In and Out they come and go freely,
Until I latch on to what may seem a little random.
The wheels of thought start spinning,
The words start to percolate in my brain.
Until finally I can make it out,
Words strung together in pure prose.
They stay in, not escaping.
I lay out a feast to entertain these unknown guests.
Relishing some moments and embarrassed by others.
Their time of departure comes,
and I must quickly decide whether to lengthen their stay or say a quick goodbye.
I linger in hesitation for just a moment.
And just like that, they are gone.
“Until next time, “ I say to myself
Open and shut, open and shut
The doors of my mind keep swinging.
