A Life Worth Living

When I was thinking of how to get my boys excited about doing Advent together, I knew I wanted the time to feel special for them. For my kids they absolutely love desserts and games. If your kiddos are like mine, I wanted to share what we are doing just incase it helps give you some ideas.

Here’s what our time has looked like, at the end of the day I have a special dessert that we only eat during advent. And while the kids munch away and enjoy, I read out loud from the Gospel of Luke. A few verses at a time.

So far we have:

1. Acted out parts of the story.

2. Played the silence game.

We each wrote 5 activities on different pieces of paper that we do every day. Put them in a pile. Then put a few pieces of paper in a bowl with one written silent. Who ever picks it has to remain silent and try to act out his answers. May play for a few minutes or Longer taking turns. I do let them be silly and goofy and that’s okay.

3. We’ve also played compose Mary’s song. Everyone comes up with a tune and tries to sing parts of Mary’s song. The kids even get to rap the words if they want to. We’ve had lots of giggles!!
